The 2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Zhongshan) Food Carnival opened on December 28, 2023 at the Zhongshan Expo Center and will run through January 3, 2024.
In addition to tasting various delicacies, residents and tourists can also enjoy chef competition, dance performances and band shows during the event.
There are over 100 booths displaying foods from 9 cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai as well as the Hong Kong and Macao SARs.
Besides special local cuisines, the event also introduces intangible cultural heritage foods, such as Enping Sesame Cake and Tangren Xie sugar paintings, to showcase the culinary culture of the Greater Bay Area.
This event includes both online and offline activities. East District joins hands with Ele.me, Amap and Gonghuiding platforms to invest 4 million yuan to set up online venues of the carnival. More than one million worth consumer coupons will be issued in batches to stimulate the vitality of catering consumption.
East District also organizes such activities as the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Chefs" Competition, art shows, Douyin celebrities' food tours and etc to entertain the residents and boost the cyberstar economy and nighttime economy.
An ceremony was held to award 20 reputable restaurants.
The event unveiled the top 10 famous dishes of Zhongshan, which includes braised Shiqi Pigeon, steamed crisped grass carp belly with black bean sauce, steamed Sanjiao Shalan Chicken, roasted pork belly with garlic and stewed eel, Shaxi braised pork, Xiaolan deep-fried fish balls, baked Shenwan Tylorrhynchus, baked salted Hengmen Yanzi crabs, braised Minzhong goose, and Huangpu cured meat stir-fry dish.
