Over 700,000 students in Zhongshan start new semester

Kindergartens and primary and secondary schools in Zhongshan started the new semester on February 20. In the strong traditional Chinese cultural atmosphere, over 700,000 students started a new semester of study life accompanied by the blessings of teachers and parents.


The "dragon" elements can be found everywhere at the schools on the first school day.


Stepping on the red carpet and crossing the "dragon gate", students from Cuiheng Primary School in Nanlang District entered the school to the loud sounds of gongs and drums. They watched a stand-up comedy show Hold High Hopes for Children, and sang the song Descendants of the Dragon. They also played a game that involved idioms with the Chinese character for dragon "龙", and watched dragon and lion dance performances. These dragon elements allowed the students to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture.

Gift packs for the Year of Dragon, dragon horn-shaped balloons, and lucky wheel games for the new semester... Creative elements of the Year of Dragon helped relieve the anxiety of starting school of students of Zhongshan Experimental Primary School.

At Yongjingyuan Primary School in East District, students were warmly welcomed by a dragon and lion dance troupe together with the teachers. School principal Ou Shuxia said that inheritance is the best way to protect traditional culture. On the opening day, they invited a dragon and lion dance troupe to perform at the school, hoping to help the students better understand and take to traditional art.
