At the recent International Bridge Conference 2024 (IBC), the Lingdingyang Bridge of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was honored with the George Richardson Medal.
The George Richardson Medal is recognized as the "Nobel Prize in bridge engineering". The Lingdingyang Bridge is the only project in China to have received this prestigious honor and the first in Guangdong to win the medal.
The IBC believes that the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link project always progresses following the concept of sustainable development. With a design of simplicity and sense of rhythm, the bridge is built with integrated crystal section design elements and has made innovations in wind resistance techniques.
From early-stage design to technical innovation, the project always adheres to the standardized, industrialized, intelligent construction concept and boosts the world's advancement of suspension bridge technology.
The Lingdingyang Bridge, a key part of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, is a suspension bridge with a main span of 1,666 meters. Its main towers stand 270 meters high, equivalent to a 90-storey building, and its navigation clearance height is 76.5 meters.
