On September 15, the Guangdong provincial finals of National Village Basketball Association ("Village BA" or "Cun BA") concluded in Shaxi Town, Zhongshan City. Over the course of eight days, 23 teams from various cities across the province competed in four major divisions, delivering 63 thrilling matches.
The grand finals, held on the evening of September 15 in Shaxi Town, attracted over 3,000 spectators. In the championship and third-place matches, four teams from Zhongshan and Dongguan showcased their skills in high-intensity competitions. After fierce competition, the defending champion, Zhongshan Shaxi, claimed the title by defeating Zhongshan Guzhen with a score of 96-75. In the battle for third place, Dongguan Zhongtang emerged victorious against Dongguan Dalang with a score of 83-72.
During the awards ceremony, a series of prizes reflecting the local culture of Zhongshan were presented to the winners.
This year's basketball matches integrated sports with intangible cultural heritage, local cuisine and agricultural product exhibitions, turning the "Village BA" into a vibrant symbol of "harmonious countryside". Zhongshan organized a series of cultural performances, including Drunken Dragon Dance and Kirin Dance, and set up product exhibition areas representing various cities in Guangdong. The city also curated several boutique rural cultural tourism routes, leveraging the tournament's influence to promote local cuisine and scenery.
