The Xijiang River is one of the main rivers flowing through Zhongshan. The beautiful scenery of the Zhongshan section can satisfy tourists' needs of self-driving, cycling, taking photos, camping, fishing and recreation.
Zhongshan recentlylaunched a special tourist route with the theme of "Zhongshan Gallery along Xijiang River", which covers 13 agriculture, culture and tourism sites along the Zhongshan section, to attract more tourists.
First stop: Shenwan
Recommended attraction: Tylorrhynchus on Mudflats
Butouwei Village in Shenwan Town is the starting point of the tourist route. In the autumn season, you can see the beautiful scenery of a Lingnan water town when stepping into the village.
Shenwan is rich in natural resources. The renowned Shewan Pineapple and Shenwan Tylorrhynchus attract numerous diners from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
Second stop: Banfu
Recommended attractions: Romantic River Bay, Navigation Lighthouse, Egret Paradise, Water Culture Wall, Bald Cypress Forest near Luwei Water Gate, Sunset at Shisanqing Water Gate
The Banfu section of the Xijiang River, with a total length of 14.7 kilometers, covers the most recommended attractions.
Near the Xijiang River levee, the vast river and the mountains far away are on one side, and mulberry fish ponds with Lingnan characteristics are on the other.
At sunset, the fiery sunlight and the golden sky both break into the river near the Shisanqing Water Gate.
At the internet-famous Shisanqing market, the shouts of vendors keep coming, and tourists are busy doing shopping of fresh food.
One of must-visit places along the Banfu section is the bald cypress forest near the Luwei Water Gate.
Third stop: Dachong
Recommended attractions: Ferry View, Fountain Palm Forest
Dachong is in southwest Zhongshan, renowned for its unique natural eco-system of "Two Rivers and One Mountain".
Luquansha Island, located in the center of the Xijiang Dachong section, boasts a pleasant environment and beautiful scenery.
Fourth stop: Henglan
Recommended attractions: Xinzhong Ferry, Nine-province Flower Border, Xijiang River Flower Sea
Located on the east bank of the Xijiang River estuary, Henglan is known as the "Hometown of Flowers and Trees in China" and the "Back Garden of Zhongshan People".
In recent years, Henglan has been carrying out renovation of the 3.7-kilometer ecological corridor along the Xijiang River and has completed the Huazhou Park.
The Xinzhong Ferry is one of the few ferries still in operation within the Zhongshan section. It only takes five minutes by ferry from Zhongshan to Jiangmen's Xinhui.
