An ancient village orienteering competition kicked off on October 13 in Guhe Village, Sanxiang Town, attracting over 300 professional runners, family members and sports fans.
At 10:30 am, the runners set out with outfits and maps and searched for checkpoints along the flagstone street in the village. This century-old flagstone street is an important part of the Qi'ao Ancient Road.
The racing route passes through many landmark buildings in Guhe Village, including such historical and cultural relics and sites as the Leshan Haoshi Memorial Archway, the Ridong Temple, and the flagstone street.
Off the field, booths were set up to showcase cultural and creative products, characteristic refreshments and handmade intangible cultural heritage items of Sanxiang, as well as to promote traditional Chinese medicine.
Guhe Village, built in 1398, is one of the best-preserved ancient villages in Zhongshan. It is home to over 100 ancient buildings with a history of over a hundred years.
