A root-seeking summer camp kicked off at Zhongshan Polytechnic on December 23, with 94 overseas Chinese teenagers from the United States, Australia, Ireland and Malaysia attending the opening ceremony.
"This is a cultural journey, and also serves as a window for us to see the real and beautiful China with our own eyes," said Chen Kailun, a student from the United States.
The summer camp will run through December 31, during which the participants will visit historical sites and cultural venues, attend special lectures, visit high-tech companies, and engage in exchange activities with college students, young overseas Chinese in sports and art. They will also have opportunities to experience the rich and colorful Chinese culture such as dragon and lion dancing, embroidery, woodworking, Han Chinese clothing, paper lantern making, martial arts, and calligraphy.
