As the source of life, water plays an essential role in people’s living. Therefore, the project of drinking water safety has ranked top among the ten people’s livelihood projects and is the 1st proposal of 2016 Municipal People’s Congress.

In order to improve the quality and safety of drinking water, Zhongshan spares no effort to speed up construction of physical isolation and protection of spring and drinking water protection zone, eliminate production and activities that are not related to protecting water resources and decrease relevant influences in the protection zone. However, the beneficial project should not be temporary and it takes much time and energy to establish a long-term mechanism to make the project sustainable in many aspects, such as water source protection, pipe network construction and avoiding re-contamination in the end.
