The Orienteering Championship of Guangdong Province was held on Jun. 14 at the South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University. 42 teams participated in the championship sponsored by Guangdong Sports Administration. After fierce competition, the team of Zhongshan Sun Yat-sen Memorial Middle School won the first place in the middle school group. The team members also won 10 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals in individual events.

According to the information publicized by the Ministry of Education, all 14 seniors in the orienteering team have passed specific tests. 8 of the 14 have been recommended to universities without taking examinations; the other 6 have been given preferential policies in college entrance examination. It is learned that the orienteering team of Zhongshan Sun Yat-sen Memorial Middle School will also take part in the National Students Orienteering Tournament held in July or August.
