All primary and secondary schools in Zhongshan opened online on March 2.
According to the guidance issued by the Zhongshan Education and Sports Bureau, for Zhongshan's primary and secondary schools, teachers' online instruction (live broadcast, recording and broadcasting) time is generally limited to 20 minutes for each class. Specifically, primary schools' total online education time is limited to no more than 2 hours per day, and secondary schools and senior high schools' total online education time is held to less than 3 hours per day. Schools are not allowed to occupy the majority of students' time with online centered teaching or tutoring.
The guidance encourages schools to utilize TV, IPTV and other channels, as well as national, provincial and municipal resources to carry out online teaching or independent study of students.
The Zhongshan Teaching and Research Office has formulated guidelines for online education, specifying the contents of online education for all disciplines and in all learning stages. Among them, primary schools can arrange up to six classes a day, and the teaching time of each class can not exceed 20 minutes.
To ensure the smooth running of online education, schools had distributed teaching materials to students last weekend.
