The Zhongshan Education and Sports Bureau a few days ago announced the adjustment plan for the specialty structure and layout of the city's vocational education.
According to the plan, Zhongshan will divide the existing specialties into three categories: Urgently Needed Specialties, Transformation Specialties and Restricted Specialties. By 2022, the urgently needed specialties that are required by the modern industrial system and the transformation specialties that are related to traditional competitive industries will be retained, and some restricted specialties will be eliminated. Each school should build at least 2 specialty groups, and the students enrolled of these groups should account for at least 30% of the total enrollment.
By 2024, the remaining specialties will be gradually incorporated into various specialty groups by adding new ones and reforming and integrating existing ones. Eventually, secondary vocational schools will all recruit and train students according to specialty groups.
At present, Zhongshan has set up 58 secondary vocational specialties and 105 majors, including 18 provincial key specialties.
