The 2020 Senior Scientists Public Lectures activity organized by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was launched in Zhan's Garden, a popular science base in Zhongshan, on October 19.
A total of eight senior scientists are invited to participate in the event this year. Chen Heneng, a senior engineer of the CAS, delivered the first lecture titled "Thinking and Exploring Like a Scientist". Students from Bo'ai Primary School of Zhongshan City attended his lecture.
This event will last until October 23. Senior scientists will go to more than 10 primary and secondary schools in Zhongshan, including Beitai Primary School, Guishan High School of Zhongshan, Langqing Primary School in East District, and Zhongshan Experimental Middle School.
The Senior Scientists Public Lectures activity is not only composed of retired researchers from the CAS, it also has attracted a group of professors and senior experts from universities, the People's Liberation Army, and various ministries and commissions, as well as outstanding young and middle-aged scholars who are enthusiastic about popular science. Since its establishment in 1997, the speech group has given more than 10,000 lectures and attracted more than 4 million audience members.
