Cai Zhendong and other 9 teenagers in white chef uniforms on November 2 respectfully offered tea and bowed to the five Cantonese cuisine chefs on the stage in Tanzhou's Mr Seafood Restaurant. The chefs then drank tea and solemnly put on chef caps for the teenagers to finish the ceremony.
This was the apprentice-accepting ceremony of the 2019 "Cantonese Cuisine Chefs" modern apprenticeship course jointly held by Zhongshan Modern Vocational and Technical School and Mr Seafood Restaurant.
Zhongshan Modern Vocational and Technical School that was formed by the merger of Zhongshan Sanxiang Polytechnic School and Tanzhou Polytechnic School of Zhongshan was unveiled last week. At present, the school has established cooperation with more than 50 restaurants. The apprentices and their parents, the school and the restaurants will sign a four-party apprenticeship agreement. After a 12-month training in professional theories and basic skills, the students will enter these restaurants for practical courses, and the school and restaurants will appoint mentors and tutors to form a support group to guide students' practical learning.
On that day, 36 students from Zhaotong, Yunnan Province attended the ceremony to get a better understanding of the modern apprenticeship system and the Cantonese cuisine chef program.
