The first Vocational Skills Competition of the People's Republic of China officially kicked off on December 10 in the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou. A total of 2,557 contestants from 36 organizations across the country competed in 86 events.

On behalf of Guangdong, Feng Houxi, Chen Feng and Liang Haixin from Zhongshan Technician College participated in the chemical laboratory technology, the water technology, and the candy and western-style dessert making events.

"I hope all the three contestants will do their best and successfully enter the national training team," said Ling Xingcheng, director of the Food and Chemical Engineering Department of Zhongshan Technician College.

According to the organizer, all events in the competition will be broadcast live, so the public can watch or rewatch the competition online.
