Some students were reading quietly in the corner of the library, while some others were immersed in making handicrafts... The Zhongshan Care Center for Disabled Persons was unveiled on July 15. It mainly provides free day care services for people with mental disabilities and intellectual impairments.
The center located at Nanjiang Road, Shiqi District can accommodate 40 disabled persons. The 1,750-square-meter building is equipped with functional training rooms for self-care abilities, social adaptability, vocational skills and job hunting.
As a social service institution, the center is free for the rehabilitated mentally disabled (including autism) and the intellectually disabled aged between 16 and 40 who are unemployed, have permanent residence in Zhongshan and hold a valid Disability Certificate of the People's Republic of China. Rehabilitated mentally disabled (including autism) and the intellectually disabled whose guardians have been working in Zhongshan for at least 3 years and have owned residence permits for more than 3 years are also eligible.
