On August 23, Guo Wenhai, Secretary of the CPC Zhongshan Municipal Committee, met with Olympic medalists Chen Yiwen and Wang Xue'er returning from the Paris 2024 Olympics.

"Congratulations! You are the pride of Zhongshan people. Welcome home!" On behalf of the CPC Zhongshan Municipal Committee, Zhongshan People's Government and all the people in Zhongshan, Guo Wenhai extended congratulations to Chen Yiwen and Wang Xue'er for their outstanding achievements and sincere greetings to their coaches and families.

Chen Yiwen and Wang Xue'er said that they will continue to train hard and pursue improvement, so as to achieve better results and win glory for the country as well as to make greater contribution to Zhongshan's sports industry.

On the morning of August 24, Chen Yiwen and Wang Xue'er returned to their alma mater, Zhongshan Sports School, where they took a tour of the diving hall and the natatorium, talked to the students about their school life, and encouraged the students to have lofty aspirations and never give up.

In the afternoon, Chen Yiwen and Wang Xue'er visited Zhongshan Daily and the Zhongshan International Communication Center, where they shared their stories about the growth and the Olympic Games, experiences in endeavor, and expectations for the future.

On the same day, Chen Yiwen and Wang Xue'er also showed up at the Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Park, a new landmark in Zhongshan, and the Xiangshan Study inside.

During the Paris 2024 Olympics, Chen Yiwen won gold medals in women's synchronized 3m springboard and women's 3m springboard events. Wang Xue'er, together with her teammates, won the bronze medal in women's 4x100m medley relay.
