The opera Carmen co-produced by China National Opera House,
Fujian Song & Dance Troupe and Opera Hong Kong was staged at the Grand
Theater of Zhongshan Culture & Art Center on November 30, thus receiving
great appreciation from Zhongshan audience.
Originating from the
fiction of the same name by Merimee, Carmen, as the last opera of the French
composer Georges Bizet, is the highest French opera achievement in the 19th
century. It is equally the opera with the highest staging rate in the world
today.
The performance gathered many famous singers from home and
abroad, including soprano Yekaterina Sergeyeva of the Mariinsky Theatre, famous
soprano Yao Hong, tenor Wang Xin, and famous baritone Sun Li. The Zhongshan
Children's Choir also made its debut during this performance and staged an
excerpt of the "Street Kids" chapter.
