A shipping container-like lab was recently set up in the International Blossom Palace residential community in Tanzhou Town. It is a mobile lab serving nucleic acid testing for the 9,695 residents in the lockdown area. "On-site detection can save time and significantly reduce the possibility of infection during the transfer process," said He Guowei, head of the nucleic acid testing team.
The mobile lab has professional laboratory equipment to handle pathogenic microorganisms in a negative-pressure environment, including a reagent preparation room, a sample processing room, and a PCR amplification room. It is the most ideal solution to conduct nearby nucleic acid testing.
"When samples are taken in lockdown areas, we can complete nucleic acid testing as quickly as possible." He Guowei mentioned that the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat sen University, Zhongshan People's Hospital, Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tanzhou People's Hospital have jointly established a medical team with 18 technicians to carry out nucleic acid testing in 24-hour shifts, with an average daily testing capacity of 4,000 to 5,000 tubes of samples.
